Dave McKenzie of New Zealand ( 2:15:45) and Katherine Switzer (4:20) are the winners of the Boston Marathon.

After her application under the name “K.V. Switzer” was approved, Switzer starts the race. But after being noticed as a woman, she nearly has her number torn off by Jock Semple of the Boston Athletic Association. The only other woman in the race, Switzer finishes in a time of 4 hours and 20 minutes.
